We have news of a new horse this week as we have purchased another son of Refuse To Bend this time out of a mare called Yomalo who won a Group 3 for Rae Guest at Leopardstown. The two year old colt was bought by David Evans at Goresbridge Breeze Up Sales and has plenty of scope and looks a horse for next year as much as this. We have one small share remaining should anyone be interested.
Steelcut ran well twice for us last week on consecutive days at York and Salisbury without threatening to win. I certainly felt the level of competition he faced in those races was a fair bit better than he had been competing against recently. He holds his form well and I am sure he can be competitive again in the coming months. He will be aimed at a veterans race at Salisbury on Sunday June 26th.
After making it three consecutive winners for the partnership at Chester recently, Steelcut attempts for a hat trick himself in the 5 furlong sprint handicap at Sandown Park tomorrow. Cathy Gannon who gave him such a lovely ride at The Roodeye again teams up with him and we would be hopeful of a decent run.He is berthed very close to pacy runners Island Legend and Cape Royal who should give him a decent target to aim at. This is a different test for him as we have had our success campaigning him around a bend, but he is a course and distance winner with a different trainer last year which gives us encouragement.
