Another dose of Dunstall - 29 October, 2010

Tonight we meet again for a rare event at Dunstall Park, that is a 6 race card. Johnny hancocks tries again in the 6f handicap at 6.40 and if breaking in good style as we know he can must have a decent chance of going close. The favourite One Cool Bex did good figures here over 6f recently and has Paul Hanagan booked, but from stall 9 and back over 5f looks tight enough to me. My main fear is Sacrosanctus who beat us on worse terms at Kempton and blew the start last time, if he traps running will be a danger to all from an in form yard.

It has been pleasing to see two very good performances from Wolves in the last seven days albeit in defeat. Not a bad tackle in sight and plenty of open attacking play when opportunities arose. I attended the game at Stamford Bridge and it was the most I have enjoyed Wolves play for a long time, it is hoped that the performances can continue and achieve positive results in the near future.

Friday night is Dunstall night - 15 October, 2010

For half the year as race planning currently stands, Friday night generally means time for a night racing at Dunstall Park the home of Wolverhampton racecourse. Tonight is no exception and we have Johnny Hancocks competing in the 5f nursery handicap at 6.40 which gives a few of our members a chance to have a sociable night out. If he hits the gates running like we know he can, he has the pace to give a bold account but it would need a fair bit of improvement on  his previous best to land this prize off a mark of 77. Key Lago looks very well handicapped and we are badly in at the weights with Sacrosanctus.

Sumner has been declared on Saturday evening as a prelude to a hurdling encounter at Worcester or Ludlow during next week.

William Haigh was close to running last month when hitting a minor setback which is now all clear, however due to the timing we have decided to rough him off and continue in the new year.

With the yearling sales now virtually over life may return a little more to normal and I should have some more time for reflection on here next week.
