War and Peace has been entered again for Warwick and Chester later this week after his disappointing run at Salisbury a couple of weeks ago. One or two horses in the yard were not showing their true form that week and a better showing is hoped for this week.
Sumner also disappointed again recently on turf, this time at Haydock, after showing some promise in both runs at Kempton. Sore shins appear to have been the problem. He will have a short break and will reappear on the all-weather in July.
Johnny Hancocks needed his first run after being gelded and will now wait for nurseries next month.
Sumner runs at Haydock tonight in a race for inexperienced apprentices. Whether the ground will suit we do not know but it is hoped this is the race that can get his season underway. Francis Hayes who works for Andrwe Balding takes the mount for us.
Johnny Hancocks did not take up his entry at York but is in at Windsor on Monday.
War and Peace and Matthew Cosham attempt to repeat their recent hands and heels victory back at Salisbury tomorrow, this time it will be over the sprint trip of 6 furlongs. There should be plenty of pace on with Misaro and Super Frank in the field and it is to be hoped this will play to his strengths and the pair can once again deliver a decisive late run.
Sumner and Johnny Hancocks both have entries later in the week and we should have more idea tomorrow of their running plans.
