Zennerman declared - 28 July, 2009

We have declared Zennerman for the Seller at Musselburgh on Thursday evening. The race will see him step up in trip to 1m1f for the first time and Kelly Harrison is booked to ride. Kelly rode him on his last visit to the Lothian venue. Dropping him in to this grade, gives him the opportunity to find his form again after a layoff.

New Star will be entered at Chepstow next Tuesday. Baizically has been entered at Ripon next Monday and may also have entries at Haydock later in the week.

It is throwing it down in Bridgnorth yet again as I write this, hopefully the weather will pick up for the Test on Thursday at Edgbaston as most people are thoroughly enjoying the series so far. I do fear that our batting is going to completely bomb out at some stage, hopefully I am wrong.

Typical Goodwood today but nonetheless several mighty impressive winners. Harbinger looks one to follow, Monsieur Chevalier was awesome yet again and even though he had a rail advantage I was impressed with Lowdown.

Black Nun retirement - 18 July, 2009

Black Nun showed yesterday that she is not in love with racing as a job and clearly does not train on, the first run of both seasons in training being promising. She will be found a new home for another job in the next week.

New Star is back in work again after an enforced short break with an abscess in her off fore, hopefully we can find him a race in early August.

Strange day yesterday, England well on top in a Lords Test against the Aussies, Tom Watson still leads The Open after 2 rounds, Tiger Woods misses the cut. Better weather forecast today but with going soft in most places expect a lot of racing results to be equally as unpredictable. Good luck in finding them !

Great week for TV sport - 16 July, 2009

What a great morning to be in the office with a Lords Test on one television and The Open on another.

It feels like I am in a time warp with Tom Watson going so well, remember backing him regularly when I was at school, he must use some anti-aging cream.

Zennerman made a satisfactory return to the racecourse on Saturday at Chester, after a tardy start he could never get in to the race on ground quicker than he would prefer but the main thing was he came back sound. We hope to find a suitable target in two to three weeks for him.

Black Nun showed a little more dropped in to claiming company on Monday night but she did not stay the mile and a half. We are dropping her in grade to selling company tomorrow in order to give her a chance to get a bit of confidence and turn her season round. Kirsty Milczarek retains the ride which gives us a little encouragement as the pair went well for a fair was on Monday.

A few of us had an enjoyable couple of hours at Mark Brisbourne stables on Tuesday morning, and it was pleasing to see how far our Avonbridge filly has come on in the last few weeks. Katrina, her work-rider, reported that she was making significant progress as she was getting fitter week by week. She is a strong scopey filly who still has a lot of strengthening to do and we are not in a rush to get her to the racecourse but it is hoped that she will get a run or two in towards the backend of the season.

The Last Bottle is now doing 35 minutes on the walker and being stepped up every few days. It is hoped he can return to training in August with a view to a winter all-weather campaign.

Zennerman returns - 10 July, 2009

Been away at Newmarket races and sales this week, so am a little late posting unfortunately but Zennerman returns to the racecourse after 324 days off tomorrow. It has been a long wait and we have had to be very patient since he got injured in victory at the Roodeye last August. He will almost certainly benefit from this outing and the draw has not been kind to us, on the plus side we have Paul Pickard on board who is riding with great confidence and rode a 577/1 double at York today and the horse has decent track form. I will be happy with a positive showing for the weeks ahead.

Black Nun will be declared for the claimer at Wolverhampton on Monday. She has been dropped in grade in order to give her a chance to gain some confidence.

Next week, I hope to be able to give some positive reflections on their races.

Baizically entered again - 01 July, 2009

Alan Swinbank reports that Baizically has come out of the Carlisle race in really good order and he has been entered again at Ayr( Sunday ) and Musselburgh ( Monday ). A decision will be taken on Friday morning.

It was disappointing that Black Nun was unable to show her true form at Wolverhampton on Monday. The problem became apparent shortly after the race and fortunately she should not be held up for too long.

Zennerman remains on course for his seasonal debut at Chester on July 11th.

The Last Bottle has started on the walker and should return to training later in July.
